Passport Photo Print Layouts (2026): 4x6, A4, Letter, and Home-Print Sizing

Plan passport photo print layouts for 4x6, A4, and Letter sheets, understand 100% scale printing, and connect exact output sizes to real country requirements.

Why print layouts deserve their own page

A compliant passport photo can still fail if the printed sheet is scaled incorrectly. That is why print-layout work should not be treated as a footnote under “edit” or “export”. You need the correct outer frame, the correct DPI, and a sheet layout that holds 100% scale all the way to the final print.

This hub is the print counterpart to the passport photo DPI and pixels guide. Use this page when your question is about 4x6 sheets, A4 templates, Letter templates, or printer scaling at home.

Common sheet types and when to use them

Sheet typeTypical useBest companion guide
4x6 photo paperMost common home and retail photo print format4x6 passport photo template
A4Home / office printers using standard office stockA4 passport photo template
LetterNorth American home and office printersLetter passport photo template

The right sheet depends on what your printer accepts and whether you want single-document output or multi-copy layout control. A 4x6 sheet is common for ready-made passport prints. A4 and Letter are more flexible when you want multiple copies or different document formats on a single page.

Home-print checklist

  1. Confirm the target document size first: 2x2, 35x45, 50x70, or another verified preset.
  2. Export at the right DPI for the sheet and printer workflow you are using.
  3. Print at 100% scale with scaling or “fit to page” disabled.
  4. Use a real photo workflow when the authority expects photo-quality output rather than ordinary office-paper output.
  5. Measure the first print before cutting. Do not assume the driver kept the layout unchanged.

If the document authority requires a commercial photographer stamp, a wet-signed back print, or a live-capture code, a perfectly sized home print may still not satisfy the workflow. That is why print layout and authority workflow must stay linked.
